Dog Moo = Bull Poo

Colorado Springs has recently been inundated with these “born different” ads on television, billboards, and on banners on city lampposts—the latter stirring up controversy amongst the city fathers. The Denver-based Gill Foundation is running a gay-rights ad campaign in Colorado Springs featuring Norman. The gist of the campaign is that Norman is a dog who, instead of barking, moos like a cow. The idea is that Norman, like gay people, was simply “born different.” The Gill Foundation stated that the ads are running only in Colorado Springs, which was chosen because of its reputation for being unfriendly to gays.
The single, central point that the promoters of the campaign are apparently oblivious of, is that Norman wasn’t born different. He had to be MADE to “moo,” via artificial means, and through the influences of others. No dog was born to moo, just as there is no credible scientific evidence that homosexuals are born that way, as opposed to learning that behavior.
There are plenty of people that truly ARE born different. Some are born without pigmentation, some with cleft palates, some with Down syndrome, some with cerebral palsy, others with wide varieties mental and physical “differences.” I wonder why the Queer Rights proponents haven’t chosen one of these persons to champion their efforts for special rights?
I’m sorry, Norman, that the bad people took away your true voice, and replaced it with their particularly foul brand of “bovine output.”

Well put.
This is what irks me; my best friend is a lesbian, and also a Christian. I have witnessed her struggle, I've cried with her; she is miserable. She's not miserable because she's not accepted, she's miserable because she's fighting God. I love her like family, and she knows I'm there for her. But I do not approve of that lifestlye and she is aware of that. It doesn't make me homophobic, insensitive, or anything. None of us need to be told what belief structure we should have. We make our own choices, and have that right. If you base the rate of homosexuality upon the noise they're making, you would think that at least half of people are gay. In reality that number is somewhere between 4-10%, I like to go with the middle ground of 7%. They could actually accomplish more in the minds and hearts of individuals if they shut their traps rather than lashing out and attacking our values.
I read that they surveyed people around town and found that the majority of the people didn't know what the ads meant.
I am obviously more tolerant of the gay community than most around here. I have a few friends that are gay. Most of them aren't trying to push their "agenda" if you will. I think most people that are gay just want to live their lives without being constantly told how wrong it is.
I believe that some gay people ARE born that way, but I think it is a minority. Like you said, there are people that are born different. One of those differences is different hormone levels.
As for Stacy's comment about "if they shut their traps rather than lashing out and attacking our values", isn't she doing exactly what she is saying they do?
Here I am being moral Switzerland again
Not even close Jon. I don't forcefeed my belief structure down the throats of others, not even my best friend! They however do. They tell us that we're intolerant, insensitive and hateful. That is the exact opposite of what I was saying. I too believe that many are born that way, but if you watch the blatant disregard they hold for our values then you should be able to understand my issue. They preach tolerance but are unable to practice it.
Next time one of those "queers" {their word, not mine} wants some cream in their latte, tell 'em to go milk Norman.
